After teaching English in a Mini Chef class for Langmobile, it hit me just how many healthy dupes there are for unhealthy recipes that taste as good, if not (dare I say it!) better. These 3 options are sure to put a smile on your little one’s face, and best of all, you can make them together!

Our fall session is about to start soon so be sure you reserve your spot!

We try to make recipes that encourage kids to explore healthy choices. Here are a few!

Mayonnaise VS Zucchini Hummus

I can’t lie to you. I LOVE mayonnaise. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been putting mayonnaise on everything. Spaghetti, fries, and of course, sandwiches. However my metabolism is not what it used to be, and I converted to hummus a few years ago. This recipe has a mayonnaise lover’s stamp of approval!

What you need:

-1 cup peeled, chopped zucchini

-3 ½ tbsp lemon juice

-1 tbsp olive oil

-4 garlic cloves

-1 tsp paprika

-1 tsp salt

-¼ tsp ground cumin

-pinch of cayenne

-½ cup raw tahini

-½ cup sesame seeds soaked for 4 hours, rinsed and drained

What to do:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a food processor, blend until smooth. It doesn’t get much easier than that!

Chocolate pudding VS Avocado Cocoa Pudding

Pudding is a favourite of children and adults alike. It’s sweet and delicious, but what’s always kept me coming back for more is the texture. This option’s creamy, and oh so dreamy!

What you need:

-2 avocadoes

-½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

-2 tsp vanilla extract

-½ cup brown sugar

-⅓ cup coconut milk

-1 pinch cinnamon

What to do:

  1. Combine all these healthy ingredients in a blender, until smooth.
  2. Chill for 30 minutes.

SunnyD VS Popeye Juice

Whenever I think of SunnyD, I’m transported back in time to backyard childhood fun. I think of long summer days, and sweet, tangy, refreshing sips by the pool. When I think of SunnyD I think of CAVITIES.

Popeye juice packs a punch of citrus flavor, masking the taste of the spinach. This healthy dupe will fool the pickiest of connoisseurs!

What you need:

-Handful of spinach

-⅛ of a pineapple

-½ an apple

-Ice

What to do:

  1. Combine the ingredients in a juicer, starting with the spinach.
  2. Add ice as desired

If you have any recipe dupes that have worked for you share them in the comment section below! Until next time, keep smiling! – Celeste
