Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Let’s talk about spreading love.
This holiday’s the perfect opportunity to reflect as a family, and teach your child the importance of gratitude. and experience the gift of giving as a family.
This year Langmobile challenges you to spread some love in your community and start some new family holiday traditions!
Here are a few things you and your family can do together to encourage your child to be kind every day of the year and understand that the gift of giving is a gift you give yourself.
1. Make a gift for a teacher – Teachers work endless hours, planning and making DIY craft projects. Why not create one with your little one for their favourite teacher? There are so many to choose from, but one of our favourites is this crayon wreath by Two Yellow Birds Decor! – The gift of giving!
2. Go through your closets – You’d be surprised just how many articles of clothing sit throughout the year collecting dust! Make an event out of donating them to the less fortunate. Start in your room, and have your child help pack up the pieces you’re giving away. Encourage their participation, and explain that now another family will get to enjoy them. Bring the donation bin to their closet next, and thank them after every article your little one chooses to part with. Celebrate by bringing the bin to the charity of your choice, and grabbing some ice cream!
3. Have a Valentine’s Day show and tell – Have each family member bring along an object that makes them feel grateful when they look at it. A souvenir from a recent trip, a piece of memorabilia, or a photograph are some great options. Let the moment serve as an opportunity to talk about your favourite times together, and why you’re lucky to have one another.
4. Create a care package – Everyone could use a pick-me-up now and then. Think of a family member or friend that has offered unconditional support, and send them a care package as a gesture of appreciation. Hunting for goodies to fill the box with is a great activity to do as a family!
