June Events for Summer in Montreal – Arts! Theater! Music! Put a smile on your child’s face!!

June 20th marks the first day of summer, but Montreal is already bustling with great outdoor activities for the family! In anticipation of the summer months, Langmobile has composed a list of the best June events happening in Montreal.

Play a piano!

Want to practise Clair de Lune outdoors? Public pianos have been placed outdoors in open spaces throughout Montreal. The initiative began in 2012 in the Plateau, but has since spread to other neighbourhoods. Find a piano near you!

Discover Montreal this summer!

Pack a picnic for Tam-tams!

From noon to sunset, May 1 – September 25, drummers, dancers, vendors, and the public gather near the Sir George-Étienne Cartier monument in Parc Mont Royal. Pack a picnic lunch, frisbee, or soccer ball, and spend the afternoon enjoying Tam-tams, a quintessential Montreal event.

Have a laugh!

The Festival St-Ambroise Fringe de Montréal runs from May 30 – June 19. We recommend checking out Plays by Kids,  sure to be a laugh for the whole family. Fringe tickets cost around $10 – $15, but there are plenty of free shows, events, and concerts.

Discover the next Shakespeare!

Pavé Poésie brings poetry to the streets of Mont Royal, with everything from readings and performance to slam poetry competitions. The festival runs from June 2 – 5.

Celebrate the city’s urban art!

Montreal is a city of many things, including murals. Learn more about Montreal’s eclectic urban art scene at the Mural Festival, which runs from June 9 – 19 on Boulevard Saint Laurent (The Main).

Jazz it up!

Ranked as the world’s largest jazz festival by Guinness World Records, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal  starts at the end of the month. The ten-day music festival runs June 29 – July 9 and hosts a variety of free, kid-friendly events.

And here is the best for last! Enjoy outdoor theatre!

This summer, Théâtre La Roulotte returns for its 64th season with the premiere of Déculottés. From June 28 – August 23, 49 performances will be offered for free in the parks of Montreal.

We have a personal interest in this particular event and really hope you go see it! Our very own Zoe Tremblay will be one of the cast members! Zoe worked with Langmobile summer camp  as a Camp Coordinator for 4 years and has recently graduated the Conservatoire d’art dramatique du Montreal. She was recently signed with the prestigious Corinne Giguère – Agence artistique.

Bravo Zoe! Langmobile loves you and wishes you all the success in the world!!
